I think Halloween this year will be unforgettable for so many reasons. On the good note though, it was nice because during the day on the 30th, Ammon, Matthew and I were able to go to the pumpkin patch. We'd wanted to go all that week, but that Saturday was the first time we could get there. Even though it was SO WINDY (they'd taken down all the rides and nothing was ready to "do" except look at pumpkins), we had a good time just the three of us.
He, of course, loved all the animals. I love this picture because it shows what I see everyday. It shows Ammon being a terrific dad to Matthew. This is truly what it's like to look through my eyes.
Can't remember why he's raising his hand...has something to do with the wind no doubt!
Next, we decided to go to the Moose's House (Bass Pro Shops) for a whole Halloween activity they had for kids. Matthew got to decorate with paint, color a Charlie Brown and Snoopy Great Pumpkin picture and get lunch. I loved that day because I wanted Ammon to get to spend time with Matthew because he had to work both that night and Halloween night too.
"Brooklyn"
After Ammon left for work and a nap, Matthew got up in time to get dressed for our Trunk-or-Treating turned Room-or-Treating at the church that night. He had the best costume of the night (with no bias at all of course). I found a Waste Management patch online, copied it, and had Margaret sew it on a $4 reflective vest I found on ebay. Pair that with a bright orange shirt ($8), black gloves ($1), cargo pants ($10) and a silver spray painted ($8) mini trash can, my two-year-old was the cutest trash man I've ever seen.
My mom and dad were out of town that day, so Chris and I took on decorating our room ourselves. Chris was a Yankee; I was a security guard (thanks to each other--we wore the other's clothes).
The cultural hall was filled with the two wards who were invited.
This poor little Buzz kept getting followed around by our trash man. He would ask me to take a picture just so he could look at it.
With Gigi, the cutest little M&M I've ever seen!
Her mom was the yellow peanut M&M because she was pregnant. Such a cute idea!

All the primary children. I can't believe Matthew is considered a primary child now.
That night--coming home to "count" candy. I always remember doing that after trick-or-treating so I wanted Matthew to have similar pictures of something I did when I was young.
Halloween Morning. With Halloween pj's on, Matthew couldn't stop talking about getting candy and being a trash man.
Matthew took "franks" to nursery and I gave my class pumpkins with full size candy bars from the night before. Luckily, my dad bought plenty before he left town so I had enough for my class.
After church, I made a pumpkin chili, cornbread and hot dog mummies like I made last year. Matthew actually liked it.
A cauldron of candy.
Camren came over that night to trick-or-treat.
Since it was Sunday, we didn't go out to trick-or-treat, but Matthew couldn't have been happier to stay at home. He had a blast giving out candy and helping my mom. He loved seeing "the kids" and throwing a candy bar at them. Like usual, my parents had a million and a half kids and parents who came a-knocking at the infamous house who gives out full size candy bars. Finally my mom decided to tell the [Mexican] adults that it was only for kids!
He spent the night dumping when he wasn't handing out candy.
After all the candy was gone, we decided to go take some treats to Margaret (and to let her see Matthew's costume). It is so nice to have them so close!
We also went over to show James, Regina and Autumn his costume too.
It was such a great Halloween for us and Matthew sure loved being a trash man. I love this age because Matthew doesn't care about it being on a Sunday or how many pieces of candy he got. He just loves spending time with Mom and Dad and getting to be what he likes to be. I don't want him to grow up this fast!
