Since we were going to be gone on Father's Day, we did it the Sunday before. It just so happened to be raining (weird I know since it does it every other day), and the power decides to go out about once or twice a week. This particular day, it got down to about 45° and Matthew was still in his church clothes. Ammon went up to go change him and he brought him down in his Santa suit. No socks. No shoes. All bundled up everywhere else just not his feet. It was POURING and Matthew loved being warm. I got Ammon a few shirts and books that he wanted and I made him a book with a ton of pictures of him with Matthew and Brooklyn. He also got a frame to put up in his DS office. I counted up that night that out of 52 weeks (from August 2008 to August 2009), I will have been away from Ammon 20 out of those 52 weeks. It is definitely hard being a military wife and mom. Most days, we do it alone. I have it great compared to most. We are very very fortunate that Ammon is able to live in the states and that we are able to live with him. Even though we may have to move a lot, it is so nice that we get to stay together. Ammon has been a wonderful dad to Matthew since he was born. I can't imagine how it must be to not be around your son that much when he is so little, but Ammon always seems to do it without complaining. He never ever complains about changing a poopy diaper, feeding or bathing Matthew. He always wants to take him off my hands and let me get things done. Matthew loves him and adores seeing him when he comes home. I think he is growing to be more and more like him everyday. Ammon is my hero and I am so grateful that I have a husband who can provide for us. It isn't easy being in the military, but Ammon makes it seem so. He is a great father and Matthew is so lucky to have him as a dad.
