Cakes, cakes, cakes...

My mom picked us up at the airport and when we got home, she had a little cake all for Matthew's birthday. Even though it was 2 in the morning, we sang to him anyway and he had so much fun playing at Grandma's. Brooklyn was SO EXCITED to see us. It was SO GOOD to see her and she loved it even more when we gave her some birthday cake!

I look like I just got off a plane

He loves the candles like Grandpa

A few days after we got to Vegas, my mom and I decided we would try out some fondant. It took us a few tries to get this hat right, but we were SO excited at how it turned out. We dyed the fondant all by ourselves and I cut out the letters and did the stitching and the little MLB symbol on the back of the hat. Pictures really don't do the cake justice! After every knife, bowl, pan and spatula was dirty, we decided how much fun we had! It was so much fun to work with the fondant and it was so cool to say that we did Matthew's birthday cakes!

It's graham cracker dirt!

The middle one was Matthew's cake so he could get dirty himself

The red fondant took me about an hour to knead with food coloring. Tip to anyone trying it out: buy the red fondant yourself!

My mom made the bats...with the brown grain in them and everything.
